global results on some nonlinear partial differential equations for direct and inverse problems
Some Results on the Target Set Selection Problem
In this paper we consider a fundamental problem in the area of viral marketing, called TARGET SET SELECTION problem. We study the problem when the underlying graph is a block-cactus graph, a chordal graph or a Hamming graph. We show that if G is a block-cactus graph, then the TARGET SET SELECTION problem can be solved in linear time, which generalizes Chen’s result [2] for trees, and the time c...
متن کاملSome tractable instances of interval data minmax regret problems
In this paper, we provide polynomial and pseudopolynomial algorithms for classes of particular instances of interval data minmax regret graph problems. These classes are defined using a parameter that measures the distance from well known solvable instances. Tractable cases occur when the parameter is bounded by a constant.
متن کاملOn hard instances
Instance complexity was introduced by Orponen, Ko, Schh oning, and Watanabe 14] as a measure of the complexity of individual instances of a decision problem. Comparing instance complexity to Kolmogorov complexity, they introduced the notion of p-hard instances, and conjectured that every set not in P has p-hard instances. Whereas this conjecture is still unsettled, Fortnow and Kummer 6] proved ...
متن کاملOn Approximating Target Set Selection
We study the Target Set Selection (TSS) problem introduced by Kempe, Kleinberg, and Tardos (2003). This problem models the propagation of influence in a network, in a sequence of rounds. A set of nodes is made “active” initially. In each subsequent round, a vertex is activated if at least a certain number of its neighbors are (already) active. In the minimization version, the goal is to activat...
